LEAD’s primary activity to promote the mobilization of capital is a business plan competition (BPC) open to entrepreneurs, investors and SMEs in Haiti and abroad that want to create and/or expand commercial activity in Haiti.
The Business Plan Competition was launched in 2011 and closed in January 2014. The full list of winners is available here.
Through the BPC, LEAD awards grants to successful candidates ranging from $50,000 to $200,000 based on the candidate providing matching funds at least equal to the size of the grant. LEAD can also provide technical assistance to selected candidates in preparing and implementing the business plan. In 2013, LEAD launched the second edition of its Business Plan Competition. The highlights of the 2013 BPC are as follows:
100% web-based application form*. On-going application process with technical support for selected candidates during the application process through mentoring, consulting and/or training.
US $50,000 – US $200,000 grants on a 1:1 match basis until amount of grants available is exhausted.
